Philip J. Sanders, CFA

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER

Philip Sanders is Chief Executive Officer, Chief Investment Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc. (WDR), a national asset management and distribution company headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas. He also serves as Chief Executive Officer of Waddell & Reed Investment Management Company (WRIMCO) and Ivy Investment Management Company (IICO).

Mr. Sanders joined Waddell & Reed in 1998 as vice president and portfolio manager of Ivy Funds VIP Growth. He co-managed Waddell & Reed's large cap growth institutional accounts from 1998 to 2016, and co-managed the large cap growth product suite from 2006 to 2016. Mr. Sanders was appointed senior vice president of WRIMCO in 2000 and IICO at its formation in 2003. He was appointed CIO of WRIMCO and IICO in 2010. He was appointed senior vice president and CIO of WDR in 2011. Mr. Sanders was named CEO of WDR in 2016.

Mr. Sanders received his BA in Economics in 1980 from the University of Michigan. He earned an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1986.

Prior to joining Waddell & Reed, Mr. Sanders was affiliated with Banc of America Capital Management, the investment management division of Bank of America. He began his investment career as an equity research analyst in 1988 and was appointed portfolio manager in 1992.

Mr. Sanders is a CFA charter holder. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the Kansas City CFA Society.

 

Brent K. Bloss

Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer (COO), Brent Bloss leads multiple divisions, including the Financial Advisors, Information Technology, Procurement and Facilities, Human Resources, Investment Management Technology and Support, and Marketing.

Mr. Bloss was appointed Executive Vice President and COO of WDR in 2018. He was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the company in 2014. He served as CFO through February 2018.

Mr. Bloss joined the company as Assistant Vice President and Assistant Treasurer of WDR in 2002. He was appointed Vice President of WDR in 2004 and named Treasurer in 2006. He was appointed Senior Vice President-Finance and Principal Accounting Officer of WDR in 2007.

Prior to joining Waddell & Reed, Mr. Bloss was affiliated with the international accounting firm KPMG LLP, where he held the position of Senior Audit Manager, specializing in both financial service and transportation companies.

Mr. Bloss received his BS in Accounting from Missouri State University. He earned an MBA with a concentration in Finance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Mr. Bloss is a Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants. He holds a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 27 Financial and Operations Principal license.

 

Benjamin R. Clouse

Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Ben Clouse is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc. (WDR), a national asset management and distribution company headquartered in Overland Park, Kan. He has served in this role since March 2018. He had been Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer of WDR since February 2017.

Mr. Clouse joined WDR in October 2015 as Vice President, Finance. He was additionally appointed as the Principal Accounting Officer of the company in March 2016.

Prior to joining the company, Mr. Clouse served as Chief Financial Officer of Executive AirShare Corporation from 2012 to 2015. From 2006 to 2012 and from 2002 to 2005, he served in various roles with H&R Block, Inc., including Assistant Vice President - Audit Services and Assistant Vice President and Controller - Tax Services. From 2005 to 2006, Mr. Clouse served as Vice President - Finance and Corporate Controller of Gold Bank Corporation, Inc. Prior to 2002, he served in various roles in the audit practice of Deloitte, specializing in the financial services industry.

Mr. Clouse received his BS in Business Administration and earned a Master of Accountancy, both from Kansas State University. He holds a CPA designation and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In addition, he holds a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 27 Financial and Operations Principal license.

 

John E. Sundeen

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER-INVESTMENTS

John E. Sundeen is Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer of Waddell & Reed Investment Management Company and Ivy Investment Management Company. Mr. Sundeen also serves as Senior Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer-Investments of Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc.

Mr. Sundeen joined Waddell & Reed in 1983 and after serving as an analyst in the fixed income department he became a portfolio manager of institutional separate accounts and mutual funds. From 1991 to 1997, he managed the Waddell & Reed Advisors Government Securities Fund. From 1995 to 1999 Mr. Sundeen served as Head of Fixed Income, where he was responsible for the administration of all fixed income portfolios. To support the demands of being a public company, he left the investment management division in 1999 and was appointed Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer of Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc.

To manage for Waddell & Reed's growth, the firm re-optimized the senior executive management team in 2004; at that time Mr. Sundeen was appointed to his current position as Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer overseeing administrative and operational aspects of investment management.

Mr. Sundeen graduated from the University of Kansas in 1983 with a BS in Business Administration and Accounting. In 1986 he earned an MBA with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Mr. Sundeen is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of the CFA Institute. He is a member and past president of the Kansas City CFA Society.
