Philip J. Sanders, CFA

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER

Philip Sanders is Chief Executive Officer, Chief Investment Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc. (WDR), a national asset management and distribution company headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas. He also serves as Chief Executive Officer of Waddell & Reed Investment Management Company (WRIMCO) and Ivy Investment Management Company (IICO).

Mr. Sanders joined Waddell & Reed in 1998 as vice president and portfolio manager of Ivy Funds VIP Growth. He co-managed Waddell & Reed’s large cap growth institutional accounts from 1998 to 2016, and co-managed the large cap growth product suite from 2006 to 2016. Mr. Sanders was appointed senior vice president of WRIMCO in 2000 and IICO at its formation in 2003. He was appointed CIO of WRIMCO and IICO in 2010. He was appointed senior vice president and CIO of WDR in 2011. Mr. Sanders was named CEO of WDR in 2016.

Mr. Sanders received his BA in Economics in 1980 from the University of Michigan. He earned an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1986.

Prior to joining Waddell & Reed, Mr. Sanders was affiliated with Banc of America Capital Management, the investment management division of Bank of America. He began his investment career as an equity research analyst in 1988 and was appointed portfolio manager in 1992.

Mr. Sanders is a CFA charter holder. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the Kansas City CFA Society.

 

Brent K. Bloss

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER AND TREASURER

Brent Bloss is Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc. (WDR), a national asset management and distribution company headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas.

Mr. Bloss joined Waddell & Reed as Assistant Vice President and Assistant Treasurer of WDR in 2002. He was appointed Vice President of WDR in 2004. He was named Treasurer of WDR in 2006. He was appointed Senior Vice President-Finance and Principal Accounting Officer of WDR in 2007. Mr. Bloss was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of WDR in 2014.

Prior to joining Waddell & Reed, Mr. Bloss was affiliated with the international accounting firm KPMG LLP, where he held the position of Senior Audit Manager, specializing in both financial service and transportation companies.

Mr. Bloss received his BS in accounting from Missouri State University. He earned an MBA with a concentration in finance from the University of Missouri/Kansas City.

Mr. Bloss is a Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants. He holds a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 27 Financial Operation Principal license.

 

Wendy J. Hills

Chief Legal Officer, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc.

Wendy Hills is Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel of Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc., a national asset management and distribution company headquartered in Overland Park, Kan. Ms. Hills is also General Counsel for all subsidiary companies. In these roles, she is responsible for all legal, regulatory and corporate governance matters. She oversees the Legal, Investment Management Compliance, Broker-Dealer Compliance and Internal Audit divisions.

Ms. Hills began her career with Waddell & Reed shortly after the Company's initial public offering in 1998. She joined the firm as Compliance Officer for the company's affiliated mutual funds and transitioned to legal and regulatory matters involving the public company in 2000. Ms. Hills was promoted to General Counsel in February 2014.

Prior to joining Waddell & Reed, Ms. Hills was associated with Klenda, Mitchell, Austerman & Zuercher, L.L.C., a Wichita-based law firm, where she was engaged primarily in the practice of corporate and securities law. Ms. Hills received her J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1997. She holds Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 7 and Series 24 licenses.

 

John E. Sundeen

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER-INVESTMENTS

John E. Sundeen is Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer of Waddell & Reed Investment Management Company and Ivy Investment Management Company. Mr. Sundeen also serves as Senior Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer-Investments of Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc.

Mr. Sundeen joined Waddell & Reed in 1983 and after serving as an analyst in the fixed income department he became a portfolio manager of institutional separate accounts and mutual funds. From 1991 to 1997, he managed the Waddell & Reed Advisors Government Securities Fund. From 1995 to 1999 Mr. Sundeen served as Head of Fixed Income, where he was responsible for the administration of all fixed income portfolios. To support the demands of being a public company, he left the investment management division in 1999 and was appointed Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer of Waddell & Reed Financial, Inc.

To manage for Waddell & Reed’s growth, the firm re-optimized the senior executive management team in 2004; at that time Mr. Sundeen was appointed to his current position as Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer overseeing administrative and operational aspects of investment management.

Mr. Sundeen graduated from the University of Kansas in 1983 with a BS in Business Administration and Accounting. In 1986 he earned an MBA with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Mr. Sundeen is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of the CFA Institute. He is a member and past president of the Kansas City CFA Society.
